Lots of Fabulous Felt Bundles!

One of my big projects this week has been turning a pile of wool blend felt squares into some lovely colour-themed felt packs.

The felt delivery arrived on Monday, I sorted them into colour order on Tuesday, wrapped them all up neatly with ribbon on Thursday, then got them photographed and in my shop yesterday - hurrah!

The Soft Pastels pack includes 12 pretty pale and pastel shades:

Then there's Pinks & Purples...

... Blues & Greens...

... and Fire Tones (thus named because Reds, Oranges, Yellows, & Peach/Coral Pinks was just too much of a mouthful!).

If you want a wider mix of colours, you can choose from the Bright Rainbow...

https://www.lauralupinhoward.com/category/supplies-felt

... and the Bold Rainbow, which has much deeper, richer tones though I'm not sure I've fully captured the difference between these packs in these photos! I think I may need to take a photo of the two rainbow packs together for really clear comparison. *Adds that to the To Do list*

I've also put together a pack of squares inspired by the British coast, which I'm calling Coastal Walk:

https://www.lauralupinhoward.com/category/supplies-felt

Then the last pack is Useful Neutrals, which is currently only 10 squares (unlike the other packs which all have 12) because my stockist is out of stock of white and ivory felt and I'm planning on adding those to this bundle as soon as I can get hold of some.

As well as the felt bundles, I've also added a few new crafty supplies to the shop this week. It's been a fun challenge working out the best ways to photograph everything!

There are lots of different buttons...

... some lovely metallic pencils...

... and vanishing fabric marker pens. I use one of these pens regularly in my projects, especially when I'm working with felt and want a guide line for something like a cute smiley face. If I mention an "air-erasable pen" in a tutorial, this is the kind of pen I mean! Some pens in this style only write well on fabric but this felt-tip-style pen is great for fabric and felt, I highly recommend it.

I've also added some gorgeous 15mm wide rainbow ribbon to the shop - the 6mm ribbon was proving so popular I thought I'd get some of this in, too. I'm now selling both ribbons by the metre or in 10 metre reels.

Finally, one of the other tasks I ticked off this week was buying some packaging to use when posting my shop orders. I bought envelopes, etc, of course, but I also stocked up on pretty stripey paper bags. They're so lovely I've popped some in the shop. They're available in blue or sunny yellow, and I'm selling them in bundles ranging from 10 to 100 bags.

As I've mentioned before, my shop is currently set up just to accept orders within the UK because of the effect COVID-19 is having on the post. However, if you're based elsewhere and are happy to wait for your order to arrive, please do get in touch and I can give you a quote for postage and sort the payment out via Paypal.

A New (Old) Direction: Wool Blend Felt Squares + Craft Supplies

Hey, guess what?

I've decided to start selling felt squares again! Yay!

https://lupin.bigcartel.com/

I'm selling the same brand of lovely 30% wool felt I used to sell many years ago - it's gorgeous and soft and comes in so many great colours. I use it A LOT in my own crafting, I love it and I hope you guys will too.

https://lupin.bigcartel.com/

I've re-opened my Big Cartel shop to have my own little corner of the internet to sell stuff - click here to visit and see what's for sale!

As well as felt, I'm also going to be selling other colourful and useful crafty supplies: lots of stuff for sewing, of course, but also some paper crafting supplies, stationery, and other crafty goodness. I've added a few bits and bobs already and there's more coming soon. You can also buy my PDF patterns (these will be emailed to you within 24 hours as I sadly can't do automatic downloads via my shop).

Oh, and I've added my recent vintage and second-hand finds to the shop, as well. There's crafty stuff like second hand books and vintage fabric, as well as lovely stuff like vintage book pages and gorgeous plates.

I'll be adding some of my felt and craft supplies over in my Etsy shop as soon as I have time, but my full range will be stocked in my main shop. This is partly to save time (duplicating all those listings and managing stock levels in multiple places is a lot of work!) but mostly to save money, as some items just won't make financial sense to sell via Etsy due to their listing and sales fees.

Please note: at the moment my shop is just set up to ship to addresses in the UK. I know there are a lot of delays with the international mail at the moment and don't want customers buying from me then getting upset when their order doesn't arrive quickly! If you live outside of the UK and want to place an order and are happy to wait several weeks for your parcel please do get in touch.

I'm a bit nervous about dipping my toes into this new (old) venture, but excited about it too! Wish me luck, and go have a browse of all that crafty goodness...

Where to Buy Craft Felt in the UK

UPDATE: Good news! I've decided to start selling felt again (hurrah!). Click here to visit my shop.

https://lupin.bigcartel.com/

Looking for somewhere to buy felt in the UK? Today I'm sharing lots of links to online shops that sell 100% wool felt, wool blend felt squares, and synthetic felt.

I've been meaning to write a blog post about this ever since I closed up my felt shop in the spring, and here is is September already (where does the time go??). Better late than never, right?

I've stuck to (mostly) UK-based shops for this list as they're the ones I shop from, but I think most of these suppliers ship internationally. Lots of these shops also sell other craft supplies like felt beads, brooch clasps, embroidery threads, ribbons pins, etc, but this post is all about the felt, baby!

Please note: some of these shops are / have been my blog sponsors, but this list is not sponsored by anyone. It's just a round-up of lots of felt shops I've bookmarked over the years plus personal recommendations for some shops I've bought from in the past and some brands of felt I've used and loved.

Synthetic Felt

Synthetic felt is usually washable (although it may pill with repeated washes) and cheaper than wool blend or 100% wool felt. Synthetic felt can vary in quality and I know some crafters wouldn't dream of using it but there are some quality brands out there.

I'm a big fan of the synthetic felt sold at Love Paper Fish / Fuzzy Fish. This felt is great! It's super smooth, comes in some fun colours - like neon pink - and is perfect for cutting out small or intricate shapes. I use a lot of this felt in my own sewing (and I sold small squares of it in my shops for a while, too), especially the black and white for cutting out eyes and tiny pupils.

Acrylic Felt from Fuzzy Fish

I also sometimes buy synthetic felt from Hobbycraft - this is basic craft felt, the sort of thing you think of when you think of "synthetic felt" but it's cheap, comes in some nice colours and definitely has its uses. I often use this felt when making larger items (like masks or felt crowns) where I need the design to have some structure to it.

Felt Sheets from Hobbycraft

Recycled Synthetic Felt

I also sometimes use recycled felt - this is eco friendly felt made by Kunin from recycled plastic bottles. This felt is machine washable and comes in some interesting mottled colours as well as the usual synthetic shades.

Recycled Felt bought by me a few years ago

Unfortunately the online shop I used to buy it from closed down, but you can buy Kunin felt from lots of UK-based shops ...

The Felted Rainbow (I've bought felt from these guys before and had great, friendly service)

Simple Sequins

Craft Etc

The Craft Department

And Rainbow Silks, who also sell some of the colours by the metre

Wool Blend Felt - 30% Wool

As many of you will know, I used to sell wool blend felt in my shops. The 30% wool felt comes in a wide range of gorgeous colours including some soft pastel shades which are really hard to find in synthetic ranges.

Felt bundles I used to sell in my shops

Wool blend felt is a great way to get some of the colour range, softness and quality you get with 100% wool felt but at a more affordable price. I also find that working with 100% wool felt irritates my skin after a while (just like wool sweaters do) but I've never had a problem working with the blended felt.

My old felt colour chart!

There are a few shops that sell the same range of wool blend felt that I used to - although their colour names will be slightly different, if you're looking for a shade you used to buy from me you should be able to find it here!

The Felt Fairy

The Dizzy Izzy Shop

And Pixie Rose

If you're looking for large quantities of felt you can also try my former wholesaler, Bits and Bats (n.b. they have a minimum order and only ship within the UK).

Other Wool Blend Felt

Fuzzy Fish sells wool felt in some lovely muted colours, with 30-70% wool content depending on the shade. Fuzzy Fish is run by one of my crafty friends, she's a lovely lady and her customer service is always great.

Wool Blend Felt from Fuzzy Fish

Paper & String sells 40% wool felt, plus sewing thread that's been chosen to match each shade (so useful!). I've not bought felt from Paper & String before, but the other supplies I've ordered from them have been great and arrived super quick.

100% Wool Felt

Sometimes, only 100% wool felt will do!

Most of the 100% wool felt I use is bought from Myriad Natural Toys & Crafts. Their wool felt is pretty gorgeous stuff - smooth and buttery and available in a great range of colours. They also sell organic and plant-dyed wool felt.

100% Wool Felt from Myriad Natural Toys & Crafts

Blooming Felt sell three different thicknesses of of 100% wool felt - 1mm felt, 1.5mm woven felt, and 4mm fairtrade felt. I've not bought felt from Blooming Felt before, but I have bought some of their other fab craft supplies and they arrived very quickly.

100% Wool Felt from Blooming Felt

Wool Finch Studio (based in Ireland) sells 5mm thick needle felt - I've bought some of this felt before and it's lovely stuff, two-toned and very thick.

I've also seen 100% wool felt for sale in the following UK-based online shops:

Handmade Haven

Handmade Presents

Wool Felt Company

Cloud Craft

Patterned / Printed Felt

Patterned felt is awesome but can be hard to find. Here are some of the patterned felt sources I've spotted online...

Hobbycraft sell some felt with large spots, and other patterned felt, like this camouflage design and assorted animal prints.

Patterned Felt from Hobbycraft

Paper & String sell sheets of polkadot felt:

The Craft Department sell a selection of patterned felt sheets...

... as do Craft Etc.

Patterned Felt from Craft Etc

Finally, ILOVEFelt88 (an Etsy shop based in Taiwan) sells a range of felt printed with polkadots, hearts and stars. I know Taiwan is nowhere near the UK but I thought this shop was worth including in my round-up as this felt has been on my crafty wishlist for ages (and small scale prints like these are sooo hard to find!)

Phew, that's quite a lot of felt!

I'll try and keep this post updated if I buy felt from any of these shops, or discover any new suppliers :)

Have you shopped at any of these stores? Do you have other beloved felt suppliers you can recommend? What kind of felt is your favourite to craft with? Do leave a comment and let us know!

A Change to my Felt Prices

Unfortunately, a few months ago my supplier put up the price of the wool blend felt squares I sell in my shops. I'd been hoping to be able to "eat" the cost of the increase and keep my shop prices the same but having looked at my accounts I'm afraid that's not really going to be possible long term, so the prices of all my felt packs will be going up slightly.

But, I thought the least I could do was give you guys some advanced warning in case there's some felt you've been meaning to buy!

Prices will be going up in all my shops (in my main shop, and over on Etsy and Folksy) the week beginning 20th August, as follows:

10 Felt Squares will be £5.75 (currently £5.50)
20 Felt Squares will be £10.50 (currently £10)
30 Felt Squares will be £15.75 (currently £15)
40 Felt Squares will be £21.00 (currently £20)

Giant Rainbows of 65 squares will be £32.50 (currently £31)
And Mini Rainbows of 65 mini squares will be £10.50 (currently £10)

Postage rates will all stay the same. (Oh & prices in my DaWanda shop will be going up slightly too, I've just not had a chance yet to work out the exact prices in Euros)

P.S. my embroidery hoops will also be going up in price the same week due to rising wholesale prices, the 3inch hoops are currently sold out but I've still got some packs of the 4inch hoops available at the current prices.

Felt Rainbows Now Back in Stock

I've had a few felt colours out of stock for a while... but now all 65 colours are available again. Hurrah!

My new supplies arrived this morning, and I've just finished sorting them all out and getting everything back in stock on my website and shops on Etsy, Folksy and DaWanda.

Mini rainbows and giant rainbows containing all 65 colours are now back in stock, and of course you've got all 65 colours to choose from when ordering pick-and-mix bundles.

All the colours being back also means that my soft pastels and natural tones packs have their full complement of colours again. The pastels packs are proving quite popular at the moment - they're perfect for spring and Easter crafting projects.

Also back in stock are the 3inch embroidery hoops which are great for framing small cross stitch and embroidery projects.

New felt colour packs: blues and greens

I've decided to discontinue my mixed "blues and greens" felt squares pack and replace it with two new bundles, one devoted to each colour.

The "brilliant blues" pack contains ten cool blue wool blend felt squares:

And the "gorgeous greens" contains a selection of ten squares that shows just how varied the colour green can be!

Both packs are now available from my Etsy shop (with international shipping) and my Folksy shop (UK only). I'm hoping to have them added to my website later this week.

Mini Rainbows

More lovely colour today!

I've been making up some bundles of mini felt squares...

It goes without saying that seeing all those colours stacked up like that makes me very happy :)

Each bundle now includes 65 felt squares - one square of each colour in my range. They're an affordable way to add a whole rainbow of felt to your stash: perfect if you're trying felt crafting for the first time. I also ship them with a blank colour chart so you can keep a record of all the colours and then easily re-order the ones you love as larger squares.

The mini squares packs are available from my website and from my shops on Etsy, Folksy and DaWanda.
