About Me

Hi! I'm Laura "Lupin" Howard, a crafty lady living near London (England) who likes to make and do. I drink a lot of tea, am partial to a nice bit of cake and am completely obsessed with felt.

I've been selling my work online as Lupin Handmade since 2007. I used to sell craft supplies plus handmade felt brooches, flower headbands, animal masks and other fun stuff... and I'm now turning my designs into a range of digital sewing patterns for people to use in their own projects. You'll find my patterns in my shop or on Etsy.

When I'm not busy making things, I'm usually writing about making things!

I've written two books about felt crafting, both published by CICO Books. My first book, Super-Cute Felt, was published in 2011 and my second book, Super-Cute Felt Animals was published in 2013. They've since been republished in German, Dutch and Italian. Click here to read more about my books and see some of the projects included in them.

I also share lots of free projects here on my blog and write tutorials for magazines and craft books.

My work is featured in the following books:
Felt-o-ween (Lark Books, 2014)...

... Doodle Stitching: The Holiday Motif Collection (Lark Books, 2014), Mollie Makes: Weddings (Collins & Brown, 2014), Mollie Makes: Woodland Friends (Collins & Brown, 2013), Mollie Makes: Feathered Friends (Collins & Brown, 2013) ...

...  So Pretty! Felt (Chronicle Books, 2013), Heart-Felt Holidays (Lark Books, 2012), Stash Happy: Felt (Lark Books, 2011), and Fa La La La Felt (Lark Books, 2010; e-book published 2009).

Recent magazine projects include: a retro cassette phone case for Mollie Makes (June 2014)...

... swan collar clips featured in Adorable Animals (bookazine, 2014), plus assorted makes for docrafts Creativity magazine, including a rag doll, kitty pincushion and floral brooch.

I blog about my business, and about my personal crafting adventures. I always have a long list of new makes on my to do list! I've also started blogging my Nice Days Out, exploring London and other parts of the UK on my days off from work.

I first discovered the joys of blogging back in 2007 when I started my Crafting 365 project to be crafty every day and blog about my progress. I think of my blog as a journal of my crafty life, and love how it's connected me to a whole community of amazingly creative and supportive people.
