Felt Crown Ornament Tutorial for the Coronation of King Charles III (& Coronation Embroidery Patterns!)

Sew a sparkly felt crown ornament to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III!

I've had so much fun sewing these little crowns, and I hope you guys will too. They'd be fun to sew over the Coronation weekend, or for your tree this Christmas as a memento of 2023.

The design is based on St Edward's Crown - part of the British Crown Jewels, and the crown which will be used at the exact moment of the King's coronation during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The printable PDF tutorial includes the templates and step-by-step instructions with lots of photos and helpful hints and tips.

It's now available as an instant download in my Etsy shop, and I've also added it to my Patreon pattern library.

If you don't want to sew your own crown but would love one as a keepsake you're in luck, as I'm selling the handmade ornaments too!

As well as the felt crowns tutorial I've shared some Coronation-themed embroidery patterns over on Patreon, which would also make great colouring pages (perfect for making some DIY decorations!).

There's a Coronation Crown Embroidery Pattern - the full design with the lettering "The Coronation of King Charles III, 6th May 2023", designed to fit in a 7 inch embroidery hoop, and the crown on its own if you'd like to just stitch that or add your own custom lettering.

I've also included a couple of pages with repeats of the crown design so you can easily print out lots of crowns for some group colouring-in sessions or to make a paper crown garland.

There's also a Cute Coronation Embroidery Pattern with a sweet little lion and unicorn. I've included the little union flag heart as a separate pattern, and repeated lots of times on the final page so you can easily print and make some DIY bunting. The heart would look fab stitched on felt to make a little ornament - just add the date of the Coronation on the back to turn it into a memento of the day.

Sew Easy Felt Poinsettia Brooches for Christmas

Want to sew some pretty felt poinsettia brooches?

My newly updated Fabulous Flowers PDF sewing pattern is the one for you!

The PDF includes step by step guides to sewing large felt flower brooches...

... plus some matching flower embroidery patterns. When I launched the pattern last year a comment on my Instagram page made me realise that this pattern would be perfect for making poinsettia brooches and I'm so pleased with how they turned out!

These are big and bold brooches which make a real statement. They'd look fabulous pinned to a winter coat, or you could glue several flowers to a homemade Christmas wreath.

Already bought my Fabulous Flowers pattern and want a copy of the updated version? Send me a message with your order number and I'll get in touch as soon as possible.

You can make these to look like real poinsettia plants, with yellow seed beads in the centre to represent the flowers...

... or use gold beads instead for a more glam festive look.

These brooches would make lovely Christmas gifts (I've given some as gifts myself!). I'm also happy for you to use patterns you buy from my shops to make items for sale at craft fairs or online.

Click here to buy my newly updated Flexible Flowers pattern from my Etsy shop (the file will be available to download immediately after purchase).

If you're based in the UK you can also buy it from my shop (I'll email you the file within 24 hours)..

Flexible Felt Flowers Sewing Pattern

I've added a new printable PDF pattern to my shops this weekend: an easy flower pattern you can use to make LOADS of different floral projects!

I've called this pattern "Flexible Flowers" because there are just so many different possible variations to choose from. I think of the basic design as a seed you can use to sew a whole garden of felt loveliness.

I've used this pattern to make and sell hundreds if not thousands of felt flowers over the years - and now you can, too! When you buy any patterns from my shops you have my permission to use them to make handmade things to sell at craft fairs or online.

The Flexible Flowers PDF is a massive 40 pages long and includes the basic flower tutorial, lots of suggestions for different ways to embellish and use the flowers, plus full-size templates. There are clear step-by-step instructions, lots of photos, and plenty of tips for getting your flowers looking their best.

I've sewn so many flowers with this pattern over the years I really struggled choosing which photos to use for this post!

You can make simple but deliciously chunky flowers from thick wool felt and recycled jumpers...

...  and flowers topped with a fun felt button (these flowers were always particularly popular!).

Buy My Printable PDF Sewing Patterns on Folksy.com!

This weekend I re-opened my Folksy shop!

https://folksy.com/shops/lupin

If you've never heard of Folksy, it's basically a smaller, British version of Etsy. Only British makers can join to sell their wares, but you can shop from anywhere in the world (as long as people ship to your country!).

I had a busy shop on Folksy for years, selling my handmade designs and colourful craft supplies. I was actually one of the very first sellers to sign up, joining on the first day they opened! I shut up shop there when I changed the focus of my business... but now I'm back, and have filled up my shop with my current range of PDF patterns.

https://folksy.com/shops/lupin

If you buy a digital sewing pattern on Etsy, the PDF file is available for you to download automatically after your purchase. Very convenient for you, and for me! Unfortunately with the EU's current regulations on the sale of digital items this means that if you're in the EU you have to pay VAT on your pattern purchase.

Over on Folksy, they don't offer instant downloads so if you buy a pattern from my new shop you'll have to wait for me to email it to you. But there is a silver lining to this cloud: because the file delivery isn't automated, VAT doesn't apply, so your pattern will be cheaper! Woohoo!

It's been so long since I've had an active shop on Folksy, I'm excited to see how it goes.

Click here to visit my shiny new shop.

P.S. Do you sell or shop on Folksy? What do you think of it?
