Five Years of Super-Cute Felt

Five years ago this month, my first book - Super-Cute Felt - was published.

I can't quite believe it's been five years! How time flies when you're busy sewing lots of stuff from felt!

I'd had projects published in magazines and other craft books before... but a whole book of projects designed and stitched by me? Very exciting indeed.

Here's the first box of copies that arrived from my publisher back in 2011.

It's been thrilling spotting it in bookshops (and in the haberdashery department of one of my all time fave shops, Liberty) and an absolute joy hearing from people who have bought copies of the book and made things from it.

Since the book was published, I've written a follow up - Super-Cute Felt Animals

... and Super-Cute Felt has been translated into German, Dutch and Italian.

Here they all are on a shelf in my studio (along with other books I've contributed to - we jokingly refer to this as the ego shelf, but it makes me very happy!).

Huge thanks to everyone who's bought a copy in the past five years, or recommended it to a friend!

Super-Cute Felt is still available to buy from Amazon UK, Amazon USA, the Book Depository and many other bookshops.

Congratulations! I didn't even know you wrote a book. I think I originally started following because of some pictures you had..lol. I will have to go look them up.

Congratulations Laura! I love the idea of the ego shelf. You should call it the achievement shelf instead!

I can't believe this happened five years ago! I bought a copy and took it to the sewing club I was running at a local school and we made phone cases after seeing your projects.

Hi Laura! I love your "ego shelf"! I keep a little collection of the magazines I've been published in on a shelf in my art room. I think it's inspiring, and important to recognize our accomplishments! I found your blog through the book 'Tis the Season to be Felt-y, which I checked out from my library today. Such fun projects, and my young children have expressed interest in sewing with felt this summer, so I want to build on their enthusiasm.

Thanks guys! :)

Kay - so glad you've found it helpful! xx

Eleanor - but if I call it the achievement shelf my ego will run the risk of getting all inflated! ;)

Archie the wonderdog - right??? It's been a busy five years but also seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye.

Katrin - thank you! xx

Andria - it is SO nice to be able to look and think "I did that!", isn't it? :) I hope your kids will enjoy their felt projects. I got started sewing with felt when I was little and have been crafting with it ever since!

josbookjourney - not sure yet! I will be sure to let you know when one is in the offing :)
