I've just sent out this month's freebie for my pattern newsletter subscribers - a tutorial for sewing a felt fox brooch.
This is another old design that I used to sell in my shop which I'm now sharing as a pattern. I'm really enjoying revisiting these old projects and I hope you guys are enjoying sewing them!
There's still time to get this tutorial for free, just sign up to my newsletter before the end of the month (July 2019).

Felt Badger Brooch Tutorial
This month's freebie for my pattern newsletter subscribers will be a tutorial for sewing a cute felt badger brooch!
I stitched lots of these badgers for my online shops a decade ago (how time flies, huh?!) and am really looking forward to revisiting this pattern to share it with you guys.
I've always loved badgers but have had a particular fondness for them in recent years after getting to see lots in real life, visiting my parents' garden for some peanut snacks. You can see a few video clips of them over on my Instagram, if you're interested, just follow the links: one, two, three, and four.
Click here to read more about my newsletter and subscribe!
I'll be sending out the badger brooch tutorial later this month (June 2019), and you'll also receive last month's project: a felt barn owl mask tutorial.

Felt Barn Owl Mask Tutorial
The next free project for my pattern newsletter subscribers? A tutorial for making a fun felt barn owl mask!
This mask is really easy to sew and would be great for summer festivals, costume parties, Halloween or just dressing up like an owl because you feel like it. (And why not, right? Owls are awesome!)
I've been working hard to catch up on my monthly newsletter projects, sharing a felt barn owl brooch tutorial (March) and a felt raincloud brooch tutorial (April) earlier this month. I should have May's barn owl mask sent out this week (if the weather co-operates for photo-taking) or early next week, and I've already started work on June's project... so hopefully I can get that sent out actually in June and be all caught up. Hurrah!
I'll be including the links to the raincloud and barn owl tutorials when I send out the barn owl mask in the next few days, so now is a great time to subscribe if you've not yet done so!
Click here to read more about my newsletter and subscribe! As well as the free monthly(ish) pattern email, you can choose to sign up for weekly(ish) crafty updates from me or less frequent notifications about new patterns and special offers.

Felt Raincloud Brooch Tutorial
UPDATE: this tutorial is now available as part of a bargain bundle of PDF patterns in my shop!
-----
The next free project for my pattern newsletter subscribers is going to be a tutorial for sewing little felt raincloud brooches.
This is an old design I used to sell in my online shops back in the day - as you can see from that photo, I also once stitched the design on a little felt needlebook. I always enjoyed making these and I hope you guys will, too!
I'm gradually catching up with my "monthly" free patterns (the rainclouds are technically April's freebie), and have lots of fun projects in progress that I'll be sharing soon!
Anyone subscribing in May will also receive the barn owl brooch tutorial as I only shared that project recently and don't want you guys to miss out.

Felt Barn Owl Brooch Tutorial
The next free project for my pattern newsletter subscribers is gonna be...
... a little felt barn owl!
I made this fella a couple of years ago as part of my (rapidly abandoned) 100 Day Project. I thought it was high time I turned him into a pattern and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with you guys.
I'm still running a bit behind with my "monthly" patterns but I'll hopefully catch up soon. The emails might land in your inbox at slightly unexpected times but you'll still get a free project for each month this year.

Daffodils and Narcissi: Spring Flower Embroidery Patterns
February's free project for my pattern newsletter subscribers? A pair of little floral embroidery patterns!
These sweet, easy-to-stitch little flowers are designed to be framed in 4 inch embroidery hoops but they'd also be great for embellishing all kinds of spring projects.
There's a large, solo daffodil...
... and a trio of narcissi (or daffs, I guess, if you stitched them with yellow thread instead of white!)
Stitch your fave, or embroider them both as a pair! They'd make lovely gifts for Mother's Day or Easter.
I'm running a little behind with my newsletter freebies at the mo, as you may have noticed, but I'm gradually getting caught up! The emails might land in your inbox at slightly unexpected times but you'll still get a free project for each month this year.
I'll be sending out these two patterns to subscribers later today, but don't worry if you're not already subscribed: you'll immediately get sent the current project when you sign up, and I always include a link to the previous project when I send out a new newsletter. There'll be lots more crafty goodness on the way soon, too!

Floral Wreath Hoop Art Pattern
January's free project for my monthly pattern newsletter subcribers is a floral wreath inspired by my dreams of spring:
I've included two versions of this project: you can use the templates to create the felt version (above), or use the embroidery pattern to stitch the whole design (below).
The pattern is designed to be displayed in a 7 inch embroidery hoop, but it would also look lovely as part of bigger projects - e.g. embellishing a bag, or as the central panel in a quilted cushion cover.
As you can see, I've also included two text options for the space inside the wreath: Go Outside and Get Inspired, and Stay Inside and Make Stuff. You could make both versions to display as a pair, or just choose your fave!
The wreath would also look fab on its own, I think, or you could add your own text. This would also be a great design to personalise to celebrate a new baby, a wedding, an anniversary, etc. And course you could also use the felt flowers and leaves in smaller groupings to decorate other projects. Sooo many crafty possibilities!
I'm running a little behind with my pattern newsletter projects at the moment but please bear with me: you'll still recieve a free project for every month this year and there'll be a bonus project at some point this year, too! I have some really fun makes planned for you guys and I hope you'll consider them worth the wait.

A New Felt Flower Pattern: Coming Soon
I'm currently dreaming of spring and busy working on lots of floral things, including this project...
... which will be January's freebie for my newsletter subscribers.
The main project will be a mix of felt and embroidery, but I'll be including an embroidery pattern option too (because you guys know I can never resist a project variation!). I can't wait to share the finished design with you all.
Not yet a subscriber? Follow the link to sign up to my monthly pattern newsletter for a free project in your inbox each month this year, plus a bonus project at some point to make up for the fact that I was too busy to send a newsletter in December (oops!). You can also sign up for updates about what's new here on my blog and over in my shop.
Here's a peek at some of the other floral designs in progress in my studio at the moment - keep your fingers crossed for lots of winter sunshine so I can get these tutorials photographed and in my shop a.s.a.p!
P.S. Remember you'll also always find lots of free crafty projects in my tutorial archive.

Christmas Candle Embroidery Pattern
November's free project for my monthly pattern newsletter subscribers is an embroidery pattern for sewing a winter candle!
You can use the candle and holly design to add some festive cheer to any sewing project, frame it in a 5 inch embroidery hoop, or embroider it on felt to make a fun ornament for your Christmas tree.
I stitched mine on cream coloured felt...
... and added a red ribbon loop to match the red candle.
I think this design would also look fab stitched all in white on a solid colour background (maybe red or royal blue - like these baubles or this snow globe ornament). You could also personalise it by stitching a name or year on the base of the candle holder.
November's pattern newsletter will also include a link to October's project: a tutorial for sewing a felt tree stump brooch.

Felt Tree Stump Brooch Tutorial
UPDATE: this tutorial is now available as part of a bargain bundle of PDF patterns in my shop!
-----
October's free project for my monthly pattern newsletter subscribers is a tutorial for sewing felt tree stump brooches.
These brooches were part of the woodland collection I used to sell in my shop back in the day. Tree stumps were to 2008 what monstera leaves are to 2018... but I feel like the woodland trend is coming back! Also, let's be honest, trees never really go out of style, do they?
(There's definitely a bit of a tree theme developing round here at the moment).
Click here to subscribe then look out for the email in your inboxes later this month.
This month you'll also receive September's free project (cute little teacup brooches) because September was such a busy month for me that I've not sent that newsletter out yet (oops!). Hopefully it will be worth the wait...

Felt Teacup Brooch Tutorial
UPDATE: this tutorial is now available as part of a bargain bundle of PDF patterns in my shop!
-----
September's free project for my monthly pattern newsletter subscribers is going to be a tutorial for sewing cute little felt teacup brooches!
Those of you who've been reading my blog for a long time may recognise these brooches, as I used to sell them in my Etsy shop years ago.
I took that teacup-brooches-in-a-teacup photo during my Crafting 365 project to do something crafty every day for a year and share a photo of it here on my blog and on Flickr (remember Flickr??). It ended up representing Etsy in British Vogue's "Secret Address Book", which is easily the fanciest place one of my photos has ever been featured.
(I can't believe that was almost ten years ago, my goodness. How time flies when you're busy making stuff out of felt!)
I've stitched lots of these little teacup brooches over the years...
... and some of them weren't even pink!
I always loved making them and I hope you guys will love them too. Click here to subscribe then look out for the email in your inboxes later this month.
September's newsletter will also include the link to August's free project: a tutorial for making some pretty floral hoop art.

Floral Hoop Art Pattern
UPDATE: this pattern is now available as a printable PDF from my shop.
---
August's free project for my monthly pattern newsletter subscribers is a tutorial for making some pretty, folk-art-inspired floral hoop art:
I've really enjoyed working on this month's design, and I love how the felt and the little embroidered details work together in the finished piece!
As well as the templates and step-by-step instructions for sewing the felt hoop art, I'll also be including an embroidery pattern version of this design so you can stitch that if you'd prefer. You could also use your own choice of embroidery stitches to embellish the felt elements.
Some of the petite felt shapes were a little fiddly to cut and stitch but if you find working with small pieces difficult you can easily just enlarge the pattern and frame it in a larger embroidery hoop.
Of course, you don't have to frame the finished piece in an embroidery hoop at all - you could use it to decorate other things, maybe even enlarging it to decorate a cushion.
I'll be sending out the PDF pattern for this project to my pattern newsletter subscribers this week, and I'll also include the link in September's pattern email. I hope you guys will enjoy stitching it!

TAKE TO THE SEA Hoop Art Tutorial
July's freebie for my newsletter subscribers is a step-by-step tutorial for sewing some nautical embroidery hoop art!
I took a break during July itself, so I'm catching up this month by sending out two patterns. I'm sending out the offical (albeit slightly belated) July edition of my free pattern newsletter to subscribers today... but if you're not yet signed up, there's still a chance to grab this pattern.
I hate the idea of people signing up slightly too late to receive one of my monthly patterns, so in each free pattern email I send I'm including the link to download the new pattern and the previous month's project. So, if you sign up before August 25th you'll get the link to download the TAKE TO THE SEA Hoop Art tutorial as well as August's floral project. Hurrah!
The TAKE TO THE SEA tutorial includes templates and a step-by-step guide for sewing the felt version of this design, plus an embroidery pattern in case you fancy replicating my original project or putting your own stitchy twist on it.
