Terrific Tins

What a strange week this is turning out to be!

It's been very surreal & slightly scary watching the violence and looting happening across the country, especially with so many friends & family members close to the affected areas. It even kicked off here in Gloucester last night. Fingers crossed it all calms down very soon.

Anyway... back in the world of crafting, I've been spending a few days devoted to admin (accounts, filing, emails, organising photos, etc) and having a tidy up of my craft supplies.

I've finally found a use for this awesome tin I bought before Christmas - it's now home to my stash of paper patterns:

It's been making me smile every time I go to fetch a new pattern. Check out the design round the sides:

So nice!

The tin is part of a range designed by Sanna Annukka for Marks & Spencer last Christmas. I ummed and aahed a bit about buying them but now I can't believe I hesitated for a second, they're so lovely.

The other tin I bought from the range is full of embroidery threads...

... and the custard cream tin I bought last autumn (which you can see in the photo below) is full of felty works in progress :)

How To: Felt Owl

UPDATE: my step by step felt owl tutorial can now be found as a printable PDF pattern over on my Patreon.

As promised, today I'm sharing a tutorial to make your own felt owl.

This cute little guy would look really sweet propped up against your books (wise owls love books!). Alternatively you could fill him with lavender instead of polyester stuffing to make a cute lavender sachet, or add a loop of ribbon before you sew his front and back together and display him on the wall or hanging from a door handle.

Distracted By Owls

The urge to do some sewing overtook me this morning and I abandoned my To Do list in favour of sewing some owls:

Regular readers may recognise this design from earlier this year, when I was inspired to make a ring-bearing owl after hearing about one on a TV show.

I decided I wanted to do an owl-themed tutorial to share with you all, but haven't had any time so my sketches have been sitting gathering dust... until today!

The "how to" for making your own owl will be posted on the blog tomorrow, and I'm also working on a design for a cute owl ring pillow which will be posted in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I've just listed a finished owl over in my Etsy shop at a totally bargainous price. I'm not currently planning on making any more of these to sell so if you want one without having to sew it yourself, now's your chance!

Super-Cute Felt: now in stock!

My craft book, Super-Cute Felt has now been published - hurrah!

It's arrived a few weeks ahead of schedule, which was a rather nice surprise.

The first review has just been posted over on Amazon (eek!) and today a courier delivered this box full of copies:

I don't think I've shown you the back cover yet, have I?

If you want a signed copy you can now buy one from my website, or from my Etsy, Folksy or DaWanda shops. Just let me know who you'd like the dedication to and if there's any special message you'd like (e.g. birthday wishes, etc).

P.S. if you buy a copy from Amazon, please do leave a review - I'd love to know what you think of the book! :)
