I'm not knitting anything very exciting with this green and orange yarn, just some blanket squares, but oh how I love this colour combination!
I've been knitting with these colours every evening this week - making some blanket squares for one of my "big projects" for the year.
Is there a craft more relaxing than knitting simple blanket squares? I doubt it. I've blogged many times about my lack of prowess in the sphere of knitting, but after many years just sticking to the basics I can (almost!) knit these with my eyes closed and feel the stress click click clicking away with every row...
Love that combination - it will look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteReminds of summer ice lollies!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the best stitch, needles and yarn for a blanket? I've tried to knit squares before with aran weight and they're always too loose, I want something that's going to be fairly substantial and actually last years without getting all out of shape.
I'm now on my third blanket made with left over yarn! So soothing
ReplyDeleteI love your site and linked you on my blog in hopes others will enjoy you as much as I do! (: Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI have all the time in the world now but can't knit or crochet - it's too hot here in Australia for that!
ReplyDeleteMolly - you can get whole books on knitting blanket squares! I usually use double knitting yarn with a smallish needle to keep the squares from being too stretchy (the ones I'm knitting at the moment are a bit looser than I'd usually make, as they're to match some old squares found under the bed) ... either plain garter stitch or moss stitch :)
ReplyDeleteMaggie - thanks! x
Rie - oh, it's horrid when it's too hot to knit or sew! hope it cools down a bit for you soon :)
