My first crochet blanket is growing steadily...
I'm not following a fixed pattern, just stitching a repeating pattern of one row / two rows / one row / three rows, and mixing up the seven colours as I go along to get a nice selection.
I've not decided how large I want it to be yet... or how I'm going to finish the edge. I've got a while to go yet before I have to decide!
this is awesome!!! what nice choice of colors! I'm in love with Granny Square!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks brilliant! So warm & cozy, it's Winter here in Australia & I just want to dive under it! Maybe you could just finish it with a single row of dark? ... you don't have to have a fancy edge to it!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic for your first attempt at something big! x
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful. I really love the choice of colours.
ReplyDeleteLooking good - the colours all work so well together - can't wait to see the finished item!
ReplyDeleteI really have to learn to crochet soon - been procrastinating about it for too long!
wow, it's beautifull!! those colours work really well together :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks so yummy! I can't wait til the day I'm brave enough to take on a whole blanket. I thought last winter it would be time - but nope. :(
ReplyDeleteYours is beautiful though! Good work!
Looks amazing! Keep working on your crochet.. you are a natural. ~Kelly

wow - so much progress so quickly :-) Love the colours!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the colours of your blanket! I'm working on one too. Lotsa work, but it's nice to do isn't it!
ReplyDeleteEsther.
Great colour combo! Love the sky blue hint...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments everyone! I'm so pleased with how the colours are working together :)
ReplyDeleteRie - I think I might end up doing that. I'd hate to try some fancy edging & do it badly after all that work on the rest of the blanket.
Unfortunately it's starting to get warm here in the UK and as the blanket gets bigger I'm definitely going to have to choose cooler evenings to work on it!
Oh gorgeousness and the joy of not having lots of little squares to sew together as well!
ReplyDeleteYup, that's definitely a big part of the appeal! I'm thinking about doing something like a ripple blanket next for the same reason :D
ReplyDeleteThat's the awesome thing about a granny square afghan; you can just go until you're done. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it just take forever though! It seems quick, but I realised when I was making a blanket it was taking 1 hour to do one row! Yours is looking great.
ReplyDeleteI've reached the point where it's taking me over an hour to do one round. I shall be able to guestimate how many hours it took me by counting the rings, like on a tree!
ReplyDeleteI mostly crochet in front of the TV in the evenings, it's nice to know all those many many hours are creating something instead of just being "wasted".
Hi I would like to make one of these but I am scared of it wrippleing on me. Any idea why that happens?
ReplyDeleteNo idea, sorry! Mine has rippled a bit but not so much that it looks bad when it's in use :)
