Extreme Gift Wrapping - tips from Knock Knocking

I've got a guest post for you today - some inspirational gift wrapping ideas from the super talented Agnes of Knock Knocking. When I saw these amazing parcels on her blog I just had to share them with you guys!

Around this time of year I go through my scraps and baubles and get into the themes and feels of the holiday season with gift wrapping. Even if you are giving someone a bag of M+M's in a box for a secret Santa swap, adding extra touches can be the flair that sends your gift over the top for your recipient. I have assembled my top 5 tips for decorating gifts that I follow when I get wrapping.

#1 Use a simple brown paper when wrapping. It is both earth friendly and provides a blank canvas for taking your creativity to the next level.

#2 Use a color palette working in one color family or in shades of three. It provides balance and symmetry and is an effective way to introduce lots of different types of items into your creative toppers without looking too busy,

#3 Create a theme within a theme. Although it is a holiday winter season time of year, your gift wrapping can reflect a quiet forest in a snowfall or a lone butterfly landing on the icy evergreens or maybe even a candy themed holiday tree. Your imagination is your only limit.

#4 Opposites attract. When you are wrapping the trimmings on the top of your package, remember that things that are different from one another like to be together; soft yarns and hard tinsels, sparkly ribbons and velvet threads, colorful buttons and little acorns. If you don't often see them used together, they will really pop with one another as long as you maintain some continuity in color throughout your packaging.

#5 Get out the glue gun and go 3D. Why just wrap and tape? Glue brings things to a whole new level. So get gluey and have fun. xoxo Agnes

  2. I love wrapping with brown paper and adding a touch of cloth ribbon and lace to make a nice, natural theme for my presents. It is so much fun getting present with bits that you can reuse yourself.
