Every year I tell myself I'm going to be much more organised about my Christmas designs and get them all sorted out well in advance etc etc etc... and do I ever manage it? Do I heck!
Despite not being half as organised as I'd like to be, I have plans for a couple of mini "mix and match" collections this year as well as the usual robins and reindeer.
One collection will be filled with an explosion of bright rainbow colours and the other is a modern twist on classic Christmas colours - red & white plus a fresh turquoise.
Here's the first finished "peppermint" design - sweet heart baubles with mini gingham check ribbon loops:I can't get enough of those peppermint colours at the moment and I'm having lots of fun playing around with matching ribbons and buttons, too. What colour combinations do you like at Christmas? Are you modern or traditional? Do you stick to a colour theme when you decorate or do you like to mix things up?
I've always liked silver an blue as a christmas combination...icy!
ReplyDeleteare the most beautiful decorations I've seen ... I like the two combinations ... I suppose it depends on the mood that you have ... well in this part of the world, Christmas comes in summer ... so Color variations are a lot we can do ... Nice work Lupin!
ReplyDeleteThose colours really zing! I will be making brown and gold and green decs this year- we have an old house and it seems to fit.
ReplyDeleteLast xmas I was all about black and silver but my tastes change every year so who knows what will inspire this year. I'm still in the "it's too early to think about" stage, lol.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I want one!
ReplyDeleteAdd pink to your red, white, and turquoise, and you have my Christmas color scheme! (Sometimes I even incorporate a sort of light, minty green--depends on my mood.)
ReplyDeleteLovely decorations :) I love loads of different combinations! If I had my way, I'd have enough rooms in the house to have a tree in every one with a different colour scheme for each! Our actual tree is classic red's, greens and golds. My daughter has a tree of her own though which has very similar colours to your peppermint design just with a few extra pastels thrown in.
ReplyDeleteWe always tend to have a red theme going, but I like the blue. Very classy! I might have to re-think my tree for this year. I love the gingham ribbon, nice touch.
ReplyDeleteI love a really mismatched cllection of decorations because they look like they have been collected over time as gifts etc.
ReplyDeleteBright colours are great, if things are too perfectly matches I feel very cynical about them, love massive department store displays.
I love your little hearts!
Apart from the dread of the impending work load, I'm really looking froward to Christmas this year, it's our first year in our house and I'm gonna get a huge tree...yey!
That's a great color combination. Since I'm a paper addict I think in paper colors, rather than felt! I love kraft paper combined with red and or white . . . mixing the rough texture of kraft paper with some white lace, love it!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I love the turquoise.
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your question about holiday colors... I'm pretty traditional with greens and reds, but I do love a good blue and gold. ^_^
Oh, I love this icy peppermint! Love the mood and the modern touch!
ReplyDeleteI pick a different colour for my theme each Christmas. It's been red (what a surprise!), white (I love that, works so well over into the New Year also), pink (fun and playful), and green.
Also like to vary the style, sometimes traditional, sometimes modern, minimal or more decorative...
Hmm... what to do this year? I'll have to give it some thought.
These decorations are really cute!! Love the color combination!
ReplyDeleteLOVE turquoise and red for Christmas! Really cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm a traditional girl at Christmas. I enjoy different colour combos but red/green/gold is what I generally choose.
ReplyDeleteI love this color combination too! They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, nice and fresh and festive. I'm usually a traditional red and green sort of girl when it comes to Christmas, but I do like a bit of blue, silver and purple every once in a while!
ReplyDeletei love these! so inspired to do an all red & teal christmas tree instead of my normal pink & teal. Beautiful!

My christmas colour combo is silvers, pinks and purples, and I have a bit of a snowflake theme going as well.
ReplyDeleteI love these peppermint hearts.
