Good news, tea fans: I've added my teapot rosette brooches to my sale section.

They're now just £5 each, or £15 for a set of four. They'd make a lovely gift for a tea-loving friend!

I've also reduced the price of a few other items in my sale, including these camera brooches which are now just £7.50...

... crowns and sunflower headbands, which are both now just £3...

... and the last of my felt moustaches, now just £1!

Making Lots of Felt Owls

I'm continuing to feel a bit worn out after my recent patch of illness, and yesterday afternoon I felt particularly rubbish. I had to abandon my work plans for the afternoon & retire to the sofa to put my feet up with some simple, restful crafting. Luckily in my job there are always loads of crafty bits and bobs that need doing, so I can rest and do a bit of work at the same time :)

Yesterday's relaxing task? Sewing a whole flock of sparkly felt owls:

I've wanted to make some colourful owls for ages after making a set of brown felt owl ornaments last year and I knew they'd be the perfect project for my restful afternoon. They all still need their eyes and beaks sewn on but still, it's great to have been so productive on a day when I was feeling so under the weather.... and I have a plan for all these owls!

Fancy making some owls of your own? You can find my original felt owl tutorial HERE and a guide to adapting it to make little felt owl ornaments HERE. (The tutorials recommend sewing on the eyes and beak before adding the feathers / sequins / etc but as you can see from the above pic I'm sewing my owls the other way round. I used the owl I'd sewn earlier as a guide to make sure I was leaving enough space for the eyes & beak, I was just impatient to get to the fun part of sewing on all those sequins!)

Crafty Flashback: A Felt Picture for Fathers Day

My mum found this felt picture in a drawer yesterday when she was having a bit of a spring clean:

I stitched it many many years ago to give to my dad for Father's Day (instead of the usual handmade card). I remember being in a bit of a rush to finish it as it took longer to sew than I'd expected!

It was based on this drawing of a golfer...

... which was one of a big series I drew in my teens (for no real reason other than I liked drawing stuff!) featuring the same furry character in lots of different outfits and scenes. I've still got a whole bunch of them & thought guys might like to see some of my favourites :)

What's In This Box?

I've been slowly sorting through my craft stash over the past few months, tidying and re-organising and sorting through a bunch of supplies to destash... and at the bottom of a drawer I found this little box.

I remember keeping oddments like snap fasteners and bobbins in this box when I was a sewing-obsessed kid, but what's in there now?

There's a hook and eye cut off a costume for a dance recital I was in at primary school....

The costume was in our family dressing up box for several years, and then eventually got cut up for some sewing project or other (I can't remember what) in my early teens and I guess I thought the fastening might be useful for something! Waste not want not, right?

And then there's some stuffing and some felt pieces I must have cut out at least 15 years ago... ready for making teeny little felt mice.

I remember making a whole batch of these, with little pink ribbon tails and tiny pink seed bead noses. I guess I must have put these pieces in this box to finish later and then forgotten all about them! It feels a bit wrong to just throw them away after all this time - maybe I should try and finish them?

P.S. I've decided to lower the price of the sponsor ads on my blog, so ads now start at just $5 for 30 days (bargain!). I give a shout out to new sponsors over on my Facebook page and also include all current sponsors in a monthly "meet my sponsors" blog post. Click here for more info.
