Lots of Places to Buy Giant Buttons!

Back when I used to sell craft supplies, I sold some giant wooden buttons which were always very popular. I sold 8cm (3 inch) ones which were cool, and huge 12.5 cm (5 inch) ones which were just plain awesome:

Buttons this big can be quite hard to find! So, now that I longer sell them I've put together a list of other places you can buy oversized buttons... some for crafting and others just for fun :)

(Unless otherwise noted, the shops in this list are based in the UK).

Overspill sells 8.5cm (3.5 inch) wooden buttons.

Love Craft sell 8cm wooden buttons.

Wool & Buttons sell 7cm wooden buttons that are handmade in Yorkshire (choose from oak, sycamore, laburnum and cherry!).

Big Fish (one of my current sponsors) sell 8.5 cm (3 inch) plastic buttons in lots of different colours.

Textile Garden sell 8cm (3 inch) and 12.5cm (5 inch) wooden buttons.

You can also buy 8cm or 12cm wooden buttons from my former wholesaler, Bits and Bats (I'd recommend ringing to check if the buttons you want are in stock as they weren't always available).

Want even bigger buttons?

Keal Concepts on Etsy custom make handmade wooden buttons up to 11 inches.

How about some button-shaped homewares?

Wood Power (based in Latvia) sells handmade button shaped wooden coasters (11cm).

Wood Paper Scissors also sells wooden button coasters, handmade from oak (13.5cm) (as well as a very fun wooden bourbon biscuit!)

Snug Studio sells handmade wooden boards / trivets shaped like buttons I have one of these, it's great (and a massive 24 cm).

Snug Studio are based in Germany but ship worldwide. I've also spotted their button boards for sale at UK-based Berylune.

And IKEA sell a set of 3 giant buttons for decorating your walls (25 and 28 cm). They also sell a colourful button-themed rug!

Or you could make your own giant buttons...

... make a giant wooden button
... convert a round wooden tray into a button tray
... convert a round wooden cheese board into a button board
... or make cardboard giant buttons for a sewing party.

If you've spotted any other huge buttons for sale, do leave a link in the comments!

Update:  Daisymoon Designs sell MDF buttons in 3 sizes, up to approx 29 cm.

Button, Button, Who's Got the Button?

After a four month wait I'm very happy to finally have some more of these awesome 12.5cm / 5inch wooden buttons back in stock...

... I've been nagging my supplier about them for ages, so I think they're probably quite happy to be able to shut me up for a while, haha!

They're currently available from my Etsy shop and from my Folksy shop and will be added to the craft supplies section of my website over the weekend.

Bargain Bits and Bobs

It was sunny yesterday - hurrah!

Sunshine is always nice (especially when you're knitting a sky blanket and you're getting a bit bored with day after day of grey skies) but it's especially welcome when you've got a big pile of things you want to get photographed and added to your shops.

I've been having a bit of a crafty clear-out and there are lots of "destash" bargains to be had.

Over on my website you will find... (you may need to scroll down a bit)...

A bundle of embroidery thread (floss), just 67 skeins instead of the 72 I normally sell in a pack together... listed at a bargain price. Update: Sold

A set of 10 black buttons. I used to sell these and thought they'd sold out... but I found this one last pack at the bottom of a box. Yay! Update: Sold

A button covering tool that works perfectly, but which I'm selling cheap because it's not neatly attached to its  original packaging like it should be. Update: Sold.

Packs of plastic combs for decorating how you fancy:

A set of three plastic headbands. Update: Sold.

Rainbow packs of elastic headbands:

And some sets of giant wooden buttons which I consider to be "seconds" - they don't measure up to my normal quality standards so I don't want to sell them full price, but they are still pretty cool buttons! Update: the giant buttons listed on my website have now sold

Over in my Etsy shop, there are more sets of bargain buttons...

Two bargain packs of felt squares which are also "seconds" - squares with small holes punched down one edge, or with a small mark on them, or which are not quite the 9x9 inch size they should be. Update: both packs have now sold

And two big bundles of elastic headbands for people who want to make lots of hair accessories. Update: both packs have now sold

Remember, if you mention my blog during checkout this month your order will be posted with a free gift :)

Nostalgia + Lots of Craft Supplies

While sorting through a box of bits and bobs this week, I found this mini notebook. The panda's eyes flick from being blue to having big red hearts in them. Cute, huh?

When I was very small and obsessed with sewing clothes for Barbies or Flower Fairies or Sylvanian Families, I used to write notes for my sewing projects in here...

... but spelling was never my strong point! :)

In other news, I've added a few "new" listings over in my Etsy shop - larger quantities of some popular items in my supplies section.

You can now buy a set of 24 mini 3inch embroidery hoops...

... a bumper button-making kit with 60 cover buttons instead of the 20 included in the basic starter kit...

.... a huge bundle of 144 skeins of embroidery thread / floss (4 skeins of each of the 36 rainbow colours)...

... and a set of 4 giant wooden buttons:

Oh, and just a heads up for all you felt fans, there's just one pack each left of the "warm tones" and "cool tones" felt bundles as I'm discontinuing them to make room for a couple of new packs later this spring.

Giant Button Love

I got two lovely bits of button-themed post recently...

First up: the launch issue of Stitch Craft Create, a new magazine from the publishers of Sew Beautiful. It's filled with fresh festive projects, and features the giant buttons I sell in my shops on several of its pages...

My 3inch wooden buttons make an appearance in the "crafter's stocking"...

... and in the fun "Christmas button bash" feature which includes ideas for button-y party invites, food, gift-wrap and decor.

My 5inch wooden buttons also make an appearance in the button party:

You can read more about the launch issue of Stitch Craft Create over on their website. You can find it on newsstands in most craft, hobby and bookstores across the US now, or order a copy online. (If you're not in the US, don't despair! Check out my next post for your chance to win a copy...)

And what was my second bit of button-themed post? One of these babies:

Just look at the size of that button! It's a wooden trivet by German designers Snug Studio, measuring a massive 25cms (10inches) across.

I don't even have a kitchen of my own at the moment & all my other cooking equipment is packed up in boxes but how could I resist such wondrousness? Simply put: I couldn't.

I bought my trivet from their DaWanda shop after spotting it in the DaWanda winter Lovebook but you can also shop from them over on Etsy.

Books, Buttons, Squirrels and Christmas Crafting

A few bits and bobs to mention today...

I'm delighted to see it's already had one very sweet review :)

Secondly, the massive 5inch (12.5cm) wooden buttons are back in stock in all my shops after a few weeks when they were unfortunately unavailable.

Honestly I love these oversized buttons so much, the temptation to keep them all for myself and use them to make giant button-themed decor for my house is very very strong... You can find them in my Etsy shop, my Folksy shop, my website and now also in my DaWanda shop.

Thirdly, I've decided to discontinue my red squirrel brooches so I've put the last remaining ones on sale.

You can check out all my sale bargains on Etsy, DaWanda, Folksy and there's a few on my website too.

And finally... my Christmas Felt packs are now back in stock in all my shops. I know it's only September, but if you're a giver of handmade Christmas gifts, tis the season to start crafting!

The Christmas packs include lots of festive shades - greens for holly, ivy and Christmas trees, browns for Christmas puddings and reindeer, white for snow-covered rooftops and snowmen, red for stockings and berries, and ginger for gingerbread men.

You can find them with all my other wool blend felt packs, on Etsy, Folksy, DaWanda & my website.

If you want some Christmas crafting inspiration, do visit my free Christmas tutorials section here on the blog which includes a selection of cute felt ornaments.

Want ideas for handmade gifts? You'll find lots of fun things to make over in my crafty tutorials section...

...and for those final finishing touches check out my gift wrap ideas.

Giant Buttons

I've been selling giant 8cm (3inch) wooden buttons in my shops for a while now...

They're massive, but my newest addition to my supplies range makes them look like mere babies: HUGE 12.5cm (5 inch) buttons!

King of the buttons! Buttonzilla! Call it what you want, this is one big button!

I'm not sure what kind of sewing project would need a button this big, but they look pretty amazing on their own and would look fab on display in a craft room.

They're now available from my Etsy and Folksy shops.
