Sweet Treats Embroidery Pattern: Jammy Biscuits

Time for something sweet and simple to stitch!

Over the next few weeks I've got a whole bunch of fun little "sweet treats" projects to share with you guys... including a trio of quick and easy biscuit embroidery patterns!

First up: a jammy biscuit embroidery pattern.

This sweet little pattern fits nicely inside a three inch embroidery hoop (perfect for making little embroidered ornaments!) or would be fab to stitch onto small handmade gifts like coin purses, or as a small detail on a larger project. You could also stitch the design onto felt and make an embroidered brooch, or mount the design on a greetings card.

It's adapted from the felt jammy biscuit sewing tutorial I shared a few years ago - and like the felt version, I've included two options for the embroidery patterns so you can sew biscuits with hearts or circles in the centre.

(I say "a few" but according to the date on that blog post it was actually EIGHT YEARS AGO. My goodness. All that time has passed but my sweet tooth remains as strong as ever, haha)

The heart version would make a sweet gift for someone you love, I think! Or just for someone with a serious love for biscuits! :)

I stitched my jammy biscuit with backstitch, using three strands from six-stranded embroidery thread (floss). I used red for the central heart, and a light brown for the rest of the design.

If you're sewing onto a white background like I did make sure you choose a brown which is dark enough to stand out nicely against the white.

More biscuit-y embroidery patterns coming soon!

This pattern is for non commercial use only: you can use it to stitch as many biscuits as you want for yourself or as gifts, but please don't make any for sale. You may borrow the photo if you want to blog about this project, but remember to credit me and link back to this page on my blog, and do not reproduce my entire post or share my pattern on your site. Thanks!

I've got some very exciting news to share today - I've designed some craft kits!

Hawthorn Handmade sell absolutely gorgeous beginner-friendly craft kits, and I am beyond thrilled to have been asked to work with them on some felt-y goodness.

I loved working on these and am SO PLEASED with how they turned out. I hope you guys will be just as excited about them as I am.

You can find the whole range of brooch kits here (they ship worldwide, hurrah!), but today I thought I'd show you half the collection: cute felt brooches featuring British wildlife.

There's a hare...

... a deer...

... a wren...

... a hedgehog...

... a fox...

... and a tawny owl!

How nice are the photos they've taken of the finished brooches??? Oh my goodness.

I'd love to know which one's your favourite (mine changes all the time!), and to see some photos if you buy and sew some of the kits xxx

Easy Halloween Embroidery Pattern: Sew a Cute Candy Corn!

Fancy a quick and easy bit of Halloween crafting? You've come to the right place! :)

Today I'm sharing a free embroidery pattern for a cute and happy little candy corn:

Candy corn are small American sweets, associated with the autumn harvest and often eaten at Halloween. I stitched some felt versions a few years ago and couldn't resist trying out an embroidered version (you guys know how much I love a project variation!).

This little guy is quick and easy to stitch, and fits into a 4 inch embroidery hoop for stitching (or displaying in the hoop when you've finished).

The candy corn is stitched in white, orange, and yellow (to match the colours of the sweets). I ummed and ahhed about whether to do the top two horizontal lines in white and orange, or in orange and yellow - maybe you'd like to stitch yours differently!

I used backstitch and three strands from six-stranded embroidery thread (floss) to sew most of the pattern, but you might want to use more strands and/or a different stitch for a bolder candy corn. I then added two chunky French knots for the eyes, but if you cannot bear stitching French knots white seed beads would work just as well.

This little guy would look super cute sewn onto all kinds of textile projects - from coin purses to coasters to t-shirt pockets. You could also make little embroidered felt ornaments by stitching him onto a dark felt background. I like to use tissue paper patterns when I'm embroidering on felt (click here for an example!).

Want to sew some of my original felt candy corn? You'll find tutorials for the cute candy corn ornaments and more in this round-up of some of the Halloween projects available on my blog.

This pattern is for non commercial use only: you can use it to stitch as many candy corn as you want for yourself or as gifts, but please don't make any for sale. You may borrow the photo if you want to blog about this project, but remember to credit me and link back to this page on my blog, and do not reproduce my entire post or share my pattern on your site. Thanks!

Sew a cute reindeer surrounded by snowflakes with this fun embroidery pattern!

If you've been reading my blog for a while you might recognise this fine fellow from a Christmas Jumper tutorial I shared a few years ago.

I'm really pleased with how the embroidered version has turned out, and I hope you guys will love him too!

This pattern is lovely and easy to stitch: it's mostly backstitch with some French knots which you could easily replace with sequins or small beads (or maybe sequins AND small beads for an extra sparkly look!).

I stitched it last winter, and it was a wonderfully relaxing project to pick up at the end of a long day. Perfect for cosy evenings as the nights draw in, or lazy weekends when the weather is nasty outside and you just want to stay tucked up indoors with a blanket and a mug of hot chocolate.

Last Chance: Free Winter Candle & Christmas Houses Embroidery Patterns!

This past year has been a very difficult one for me, and I've dropped a few balls as a result.

I didn't blog for a whole seven months, and it's been even longer since I sent out a brand new free project to my (very patient) newsletter subscribers. So long, in fact, that the old projects (both Christmas-y ones) now seem seasonally appropriate again! Haha, but also OH DEAR.

I finally (FINALLY) have some new free projects ready to send out, so now is your very last chance to grab the current patterns for free.

Sign up to my newsletter before the end of the week (19th September 2021) to get a free winter candle embroidery pattern...

... and two free Christmas house embroidery patterns.

Then if you've signed up for my pattern newsletter, you'll get the NEW project in your inbox next week! Hurrah!

I'm so glad to finally have a new project to share with my subscribers, I think you're gonna love this one (I am super pleased with how it turned out).

Sew a Felt Bird Mask for Halloween

I've started a Patreon page!

Patreon is a bit like a blog, but you can set different membership levels and offer subscriber-only content to people who are interested in your work. My plan for my page is to gradually build up a pattern library, turning all the crafty projects on my blog into easy-to-print PDF files with hi-res templates / easily printable patterns.

Subscribers will get access to all the PDFs I've added to the library so far, and be notified by email when I add new ones.

It's going to take me a good while to work through my whole archive, but I'll also be adding PDF versions of all the new patterns/templates I share here on my blog over the coming months.

I'll also be posting some of my old newsletter projects exclusively for my Patreon subscribers... starting with a whole bunch of fun felt masks to sew for Halloween :)

First up: a tutorial for sewing a felt bird mask!

This was the first felt mask I made back in the early days of my online shop - look how young and fresh-faced I look in that photo!!! How time flies when you're busy sewing stuff from felt!
