19 Easy Flower Embroidery Patterns

Stitch a whole field of flowers with my latest project: NINETEEN flower embroidery patterns!

Sew a single flower to decorate a small project (or frame it in a mini hoop to make a sweet flower decoration!), or stitch a whole bouquet of them to create a larger design.

You'll find all 19 free flower patterns as an easy to print hi-res PDF over on my Patreon.

Subscribe for a small monthly fee and you'll get access to a growing library of PDF patterns and tutorials, with an email whenever I add a new project. You can cancel any time.

I used two colours to sew my flower (purple and pink), stitching along the lines with backstitch and adding French knots for the dots. I used stranded embroidery thread (floss), stitching with three strands from the skein.

These embroidery patterns are part of an ongoing series where I'm revisiting old projects from my archives and turning them into embroidery designs. I originally used these flower shapes to make a colourful floral cushion! Follow the link for the step-by-step tutorial.

http://bugsandfishes.blogspot.com/2018/08/felt-flower-cushion-pillow-tutorial.html

You can combine the two projects, if you like, and make fun embroidered felt flowers. Cut out your chosen flower shape from felt and sew it to a piece of contrasting backing felt.

Then add the embroidered design - I stitched mine freehand based on the pattern sheet but you could draw the design on tissue paper and use that to stitch from (see this tutorial). I also added some seed beads in place of French knots.

When your flower is finished, cut it out leaving a narrow border of the backing felt. Use this as a template to cut a matching piece of felt, add a brooch clasp, and sew the two pieces together.

Stack of Books Embroidery Pattern

UPDATE:  I shared this project with my subscribers earlier this year, it's now available as a printable PDF pattern in my Etsy shop!

---

This stack of books embroidery pattern is perfect for book lovers, and easy to customise to include your favourite titles!

http://eepurl.com/dvfYO1

You can stitch this as it is, or add your own text to the spines to customise it. If you're a confident stitcher you could add the titles of your favourite books. For an easier, quicker project stick to the surnames of your favourite authors!

This pattern is fairly easy to sew with backstitch, though I'd recommend taking care as you sew all those straight lines. A bit of patience will make all the difference to the neatness of your finish. I'll be including two versions of the embroidery pattern: one with the book page lines added and one without in case you'd prefer to stitch those freehand.

My baby mobile tutorial continues this week with a how to for making a fluffy felt cloud, with or without raindrops.

The weather mobile would make a special gift for a baby's nursery. You can also use the individual tutorials to make cute ornaments (just add a ribbon loop!) or things like brooches or patches.

Remember: as with all mobiles, this is a decoration not a toy so make sure you hang the finished project well out of reach of little fingers.

Recent(ish) Additions to My Instagram Sale

As I mentioned the other day, I've come up with a plan so I can post parcels without having to go to the Post Office: I've found a parcel postbox near me, I've ordered lots of stamps online, and a wonderful friend has offered to send me a roll of customs labels - hurrah!

This means I can start sending out orders from my Instagram sale page again. I'm in the middle of stocking up on packaging supplies so you may have to wait for me to ship some larger items, but if there's anything you've got your eye on please get in touch.

Here's a selection of the items still available from the sales I held in March...

A couple of gorgeous vintage atlases, perfect for framing and/or using in paper crafts.

New: Paper Crafting Packs!

Last month I announced I was pressing pause on posting parcels, as I wanted to avoid going to the Post Office during this pandemic. I know some people are still shipping via their local Post Office but I'm trying to self isolate as much as possible to help protect my dad, and avoiding the P.O. feels like the right thing for me at the moment.

I'm still selling digital patterns but I missed posting stuff! It was frustrating having to just STOP when I had so many plans in progress for my little business, and I'd just bought a whole load of fun new stock that was waiting to be photographed.

So I started thinking of things I could post via my local Royal Mail postboxes. I took a ruler out on one of my state sanctioned daily walks and measured the slot in the postbox and came up with a plan...

... to make paper packs!

I spent a couple of very fun days chopping up vintage books and maps and gradually assembling a batch of 20 paper crafting packs - perfectly sized to fit through the letterbox slot, of course.

UPDATE: THE PAPER PACKS HAVE NOW SOLD OUT. Thanks so much for your orders!

The packs are £5 each and UK postage for one or two packs will be £1.40 (2nd class). Each pack includes vintage book pages and clippings, map pieces, a vintage Cluedo card, two reproduction trading cards featuring trains, ten vintage stamps, some colourful yarn, and a trio of buttons. I'll add lots of photos to the end of this post so you can get more of a look at the contents.

Send me a message if you'd like to make a purchase and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I'm sending out invoices via Paypal, which are a secure and easy way to pay.

I shared lots of in-progress photos over on my Instagram then launched the packs yesterday and am THRILLED to say that there are now only 6 packs left in stock.

Huge thanks to everyone who's made a purchase so far, working on these and posting them has been a really enjoyable project and feels like a bit of my old "normal" back again. Also, real talk, the money is very welcome right now, too!

In other excellent news, I found a parcel postbox that I can safely walk to and have ordered a whole bunch of postage stamps from the Royal Mail's website... so I can start posting bigger packages again, HURRAH. Unfortunately I can only post within the UK and the EU at the moment as I don't have access to a printer to print out customs labels for non-EU packages, but I'm working on a plan for that (fingers crossed!).

So, if there's anything listed on my Instagram sale account that you'd like to order do give me a shout. I'll be gradually adding new things there over the coming weeks, too. I won't be able to list lots of new things at once (like I was doing earlier this year with my weekend sales) as there's a limit to the number of parcels I'll be able to take to (and fit in) the parcel postbox, and I need to keep a close eye on how much packaging and tape I've got left. I should have some fun new stuff to share soon, though :)

In the meantime, here's a peek at my production line when I was assembling all the paper packs...

Much papery goodness!

Felt Weather Mobile Tutorial: Sew a Rainbow!

The weather mobile would make a lovely gift for a new baby. Remember: as with all mobiles, this is a decoration not a toy so make sure you hang the finished project well out of reach of little fingers.

As well as using the tutorials to make the mobile, you can also make individual felt brooches or ornaments. The rainbow would also make a fab patch, or look lovely sewn onto projects like a coin purse or a needlebook.
